5-day Nekter Juice Cleanse Review

So I come for a workout at a new happenin place and Nekter is there sampling some free juices to promote their new location in our area. After my workout, I talk to the representative about the cleanse and proceed with trying ALL of the juices once or twice to make sure I like them. My interest was piqued so I decided to do a little research online. Let's just say by the end of the day I had decided I am going to do the 5 day cleanse....it was $5 off per day and I have vacation in two weeks so why not right?

This is the cool little cooler back all of the drinks below come in. Since I am doing a 5 day cleanse, I got 5 bags! They will be neat gift ideas when I am done. The cooler bag will keep your drinks cool while you are on the run like I am. I took all of the drinks with me just in case and left the extras in the fridge.


You are supposed to drink one of the drinks every two hours. I wake up very early and I work out, so I needed to add a protein supplement drink which looks similar to juice 6. I did not want to be out of juice at 4pm because that would suck and didn't want to die after my workout so a supplemented drink it is (pictured below with the other juices).


A last tid bit of information...you are also able to eat half an avocado or some almonds if you must during this cleanse. I also read that you are to drink lots of water (which I do anyway) and able to drink herbal teas (not black tea though). They also recommend "pre-cleansing" before the cleanse....I didn't do that. 

Pre-cleanse: On the day before the cleanse my diet consisted of the following: 3 protein balls from Nekter (totally yum), cup of vegetarian black bean soup and half Mediterranean sandwich from Panera, chilaquiles, rice and beans, slice of pizza, slice of cookie, and banana protein smoothie. 

Day 1

I could't wake up for my early morning workout (that is 3:30am) because I cannot consume coffee or pre-workout. Bummer....hopefully I can make up for it later

Started off the day around 7:30am and consumed my first juice....it reminded me of cucumbers with salt, lemon, and chili powder.


This one was a little spicy, but I enjoyed it.


This juice was the same as juice 1, but apparently the toxins had already started flushing.


This one was interesting but it tasted like a twisted lemonade to me.


I ate about 10 almonds when I got home which was about a half hour before this drink. Slightly different variation of juices 1 and 3....decent tasting.


Juice 6!!!!! The BOMB.com......I wish I could drink this one all day! Yum.

I went to Zumba for one hour and did a 4 rounds of 10 burpee/pushups with the Bosu and 20 side squat leaps on the Bosu. I also did a few rounds of plank walks....soooo you could say I earned my snack (protein juice and half of an avocado).


Quick breakdown of minor details....I didn't feel hungry, bowel movements were regular throughout the day and not so much at the end of the day, I went pee A LOT thanks to the juices and water I drank, and I drank about 96 ounces of water.


Day 2

I started my juices at 6:30am today and I could not wait to drink the next juice right at two hours apart if not sooner. I consumed about 20 almonds today...10 when I got to work and 10 later on in the day. I ate my half of an avocado around 11am which was before juice 3. My tummy grumbled a couple of times today but I did not feel the urge to need to "eat." Did I mention before that I LOVE food?

Getting to the next juice was one juice closer to Juice 6! Juice 6 is like my happy place and I just can't wait for the day to be over so I can have it. I didn't want to go to the gym, but I forced myself just so I can drink that yummie protein drink.

Bowel movements about the same as yesterday, went pee a lot again, and drank about 96 ounces of water. I cannot say I notice much in terms of energy change...I haven't been able to wake up my super early time and been going to the gym to do cardio in the evening. I am not lifting weights since I am not intaking enough protein...also...I only lift in the morning and can't seem to get up..I will see if I can do it on Thursday and Friday. I am only able to workout in the morning on Thursday's.

I tried to do weights today...yeah...just about passed out...died...whatever you want to call it. I would not recommend this this far into the cleanse. Stick with the cardio to push out toxins, but do not over exert yourself with a crazy weight workout like I did...not a good idea.

MINOR NOTES:

On the last 3 days, I did take advantage of my almonds and avocado. I purchased extra protein drinks so I can workout which came in handy and were very refreshing. If you are going to workout for 20 minutes, don't get the drink. If you are going to put in work like I do (one hour of high intensity training) then you will definitely need the replenishment.

You will crave juice and healthy foods when you are done.

Don't ruin your cleanse by returning to sucky eating habits.

RESULTS:

As you can see I did not journal too well on the other days! I need to do better next time. The most important thing you want to know are the results right? I know!!! Here they are.


I am quite aware that I did not take a before pic...just trust me when I say...it was a big difference and I was ready for vacation!!! 9 lbs is a lot for 5 days and I felt so nice afterward. Again...don't go back to a sucky diet....why? Because you will gain all of the weight back faster than Western Union and you will feel like poop. Don't do it!
